We imagined this thing to be gargantuan !
I just looked up some size comparisons to give me an idea of what size to start modelling it in maya.

I changed the units to metres in maya and started with something similar to the size of the huge oil tanker, around 415m. I also will play around with the size to make it look bigger in our short animation of the scene later on. This skyguard is to contain ships amongst loads of other things.
